I mentioned in a past post that I have a collection of Newbery Award-winning books. I also have sets of some of my favorite series of books by Newbery authors, most notably Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Little House books (five of which are Newbery Honor books), Cynthia Voight’s Tillerman Cycle (one Newbery winner and one Newbery Honor) and Susan Cooper’s Dark Is Rising Sequence (one Newbery winner and one Newbery Honor).
Up until now, I have had multiple copies of those books. Why? So I could have a copy in the Newbery section (where the books are kept in chronological order) as well as having a copy with the series itself.
Tonight, I made the tough decision not to keep more than one copy of each book. This may seem like a no-brainer to some people, but for me it is a major accomplishment.
- {Clutter} released: Eight books that I love so much I had duplicate copies.
- {Perfectionism} released: I don’t have to double up on things just to have perfectly complete collections.
- {Procrastination} released: I got a ton of stuff done at work that had been put on the back burner as it was not time-sensitive. I also mowed the lawn!

Books, especially beloved ones like these are tough to let go of, good for you for making the call to part with the duplicates

Thanks, Allison. I am trying to get used to the open space on the bookshelves! I decided to use it to start sorting by author instead of chronological order, and discovered even more duplicates. Each layer uncovers something new…

It was truly a “turnabout” – I mowed that lawn around and around in circles, now that there is a tetherball pole in the dead center. (Wanna play me?)
