intense lightness

Yeah, I know.  It’s an oxymoron.  I am starting to realize that I need to take the “Lighten up, Lori!” name a little more seriously literally.  While it is all well and good to try to discover what has made me behave the way I have behaved in the past, it is better to start implementing new processes and new solutions – ones that are more supportive, more respectful, more optimistic.

Flylady is good at this.  Her mantras include:

  • You are not behind.  Jump in where you are.
  • Be nice to yourself and don’t beat yourself up.
  • Your home did not get this way overnight and it is not going to get clean in a day.
  • You can’t organize clutter; you can only get rid of it.
  • Do not try to do too much too fast; you will just crash and burn.
  • You can do this one BabyStep at a time!
  • You can do anything for 15 minutes.
  • Do not allow your perfectionism to take over.
  • Housework done incorrectly still blesses your family.
  • Anything you do today is better than it used to be!
  • Every time you do your routine you are one step closer to developing a habit and running on automatic pilot.
  • Celebrate each accomplishment and enjoy the process.
  • Making it fun will get the job done!
  • Pamper yourself, you deserve it.
  • I am so proud of you!

I also think I need to be more thankful and appreciative of all the wonderful things I have in my life.  I am going to add a gratitude piece to the blog to help me focus on all the good things God gives me and does for me in my life.

Five things I am grateful for today:

  1. Being home in the morning with Quinland and her friends;
  2. The fun I had watching that little girl on Ellen who loves pink and sings Nicki Minaj;
  3. Eating pad thai with Lynette;
  4. Deb making me an awesome fleece hose cover for the CPAP machine;
  5. David thoughtfully calling me at work to ask my opinion about having games at our house tonight.
  • {Clutter} released: A large stack of papers I culled from the filing cabinet.
