Did I happen to mention that I might be packing at the last minute? In case I did not, I just wanted you to know: I’m packing at the last minute.
Okay, technically I am all packed now. It is 3:53 AM on the day of my departure to Europe, and I am officially packed.
It’s not pretty. David and I both know that we have packed too much stuff, that we haven’t made good decisions, and that we will almost certainly be shipping a box home as soon as we get ourselves sorted. We swore up, down, and sideways that we would pack ahead of time… but something always came up. Even today, the last possible day, Quinland got sick and I spent all afternoon with her at Kaiser. Thank goodness she perked right up after the IV antibiotics and IV fluids. She was packed long ago.
Because Quinland is a planner, she had all her clothes ready to go as soon as we broke out the suitcases. She even had the foresight to ask me to wash Speshy and Lanky since they might be covered with sickness. She passed out packing lists to us weeks ago, but somehow I never made a move.
Planning the whole capsule wardrobe was fun. I even critiqued David’s selections: Does that go with at least two things? If it doesn’t, you shouldn’t take it! I ended up debating between the red ruffle cardigan and a royal blue one, but the red won out.
I really need to shine my shoes. Yikes.
- I’m grateful! for all the help my friends have given me. I couldn’t have done this trip without them.
- I’m lighter! by a giant inflatable Spongebob Squarepants baseball bat. I gave it to Autumn, one of the “chatty girls” from two doors down, and she took it home to her brother.
