We left Portland bright and early on the morning of March 12, 2012.
Our home was left in the hands of our fabulous housemate, Greg. He snapped this photo of us as we went out the door. I made David stand on the hall floor and Quinland on the first step. I am up two steps so that I look taller.
Danny and Heidi met us at the airport and drove the Subaru to their house. We sold the Honda the day before we left. We then turned around and used some of the cash to buy a camera. Yep, we did it: a new-to-us Canon Rebel XSi. Just under the wire on that one.
We packed way too much stuff. We were so sleep deprived as we were looking things over, that we ended up stuffing a bunch of things into an old bag we didn’t care about and just bringing it with us. We have three weeks with no obligations in Lisbon – it’s the perfect time to make those kinds of decisions.
This is the most boring first-day post ever, but I am so tired, I can’t think straight. I suppose that sheer exhaustion is true to the trip. I am so tired, I can hardly keep my eyes open. D & Q are already in bed. I will go fall asleep and write a more coherent post tomorrow.
