Lord, have mercy. I got exactly one thing done on the list from last week: I went to the Girl Scout leader meeting. That’s it.
It’s not like I sat on my lazy behind all week, either. I moved furniture, dusted behind it, vacuumed under it, and moved it back. I cleaned baseboards. I did dishes and laundry. I cleaned out old Girl Scout papers. I made a trip to IKEA. I bought an old-fashioned reel lawnmower on Craigslist. I went out to dinner with friends on Saturday night and still made it to Mass on Palm Sunday.
But oh. my. goodness. Why in the world have I not done the things on this list? I suppose, technically, that I have been doing the Office tasks, which are pretty much never-ending at this point. But… still!
My eyes are drooping. My cat is sitting in a drawer. My husband is sending me to bed.
And you? Are you as bad as I am? I feel like St. Paul in Romans 7:15: “ I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.”
